Where Care comes from the HEART
H: Home. We passionately believe that our residents should feel at home in our homes. Safety and security are obviously important, but so are comfort and respect. Each resident has their own private room with en-suite facilities, and residents are encouraged to bring their favourite furniture and photos. Each one is an individual, and deserves to be treated as one. Help when they need it, with bathing or dressing for example, but not if they don’t need it. They are encouraged to join in with activities, but if they wish to sit quietly then that’s fine too.
E: Expertise. When nursing care becomes necessary the level of expertise required becomes even higher, and at Norton Grange we ensure that we have the expertise necessary for each resident to be as safe, happy and well cared for as possible. But, as with all Oldfield Care Homes, residents are cared for by local people who’ve usually always lived locally like the residents.
A: Activities. All the research confirms the experience of our staff that keeping residents as fit in mind and body as possible really makes a difference. That’s why we put such an emphasis on evolving an activity programme that really works for each resident, and why we encourage visits from relatives and friends any time – no appointments necessary!
R: Responsive. We assess residents’ needs monthly, sometimes weekly, so we can be sure that we are responding to their changing needs. We also ensure that we can always respond rapidly when they need assistance, and also when they just need someone to sit and talk with them, listen to their memories or share their favourite photographs. Being responsive is central to providing heart-felt care.
T: Trust. You are trusting your loved one to us, and we take that responsibility very seriously. In fact, one of the most important factors is your peace of mind: if you can trust us to be looking after your loved one, then you can have the peace of mind you deserve.
