It’s All About Enjoying Life More!
As you get older, the opportunities to enjoy yourself often get fewer – but not at Oldfield.
Our residents tell us that life gets better when they move in with us.
This is partly because we work hard to keep residents engaged and involved in our wide ranging activities.
Each home has a dedicated Activities Manager responsible for creating and running both “everyday” and special event activities.
While we always respect what residents want to do, we also do encourage them to get involved – and usually they really enjoy themselves, and don’t need any encouragement the next time!
Our activities break down into three types:
- Health and beauty services: we have regular visits from hairdressers, chiropodists, chiropractors and many more to ensure everyone is as healthy and comfortable as possible
- Weekly activities: almost every day of every week there are activities, some organised by the Activities Manager and staff (sing alongs, gardening, keep fit etc), and some with outside entertainers of all sorts from magicians to musicians.
- Special events: each home organises 7 major events every year – summer fetes, Ascot Days, Christmas parties and so on – but there are also day trips to events and places of interest in the region.
Each home has its own programme so do ask when you visit.
Families are always telling us how their mum or dad are so much happier and more alert they are after moving in with us – and, as we say, it’s all about enjoying life more!
The following events are held at all of our homes throughout the year.
Valentine’s Day – February
Let love blossom as we enjoy a Valentine’s lunch, whilst you share this romantic occasion with friends and family.
Mother Day – March
Celebrate our ‘amazing mums’ during March by joining us at our Mothering Sunday event, where friends and family are welcome.
Easter – April
Join us for a fun day with an Easter bonnet parade, egg and spoon race and other family favourites at Easter.
VE Day – May
Roll out the bunting, dress in your 1940s best, it’s time for a good old sing along to celebrate VE day.
Fathers’ Day - June
It’s Fathers’ Day, where we celebrate not only fathers but uncles, grandsons and nephews too.
Summer Fete – between July and September
After a nippy and long winter, we are always happy to announce our Summer Fete! Garden games, BBQ and much more.
Halloween – October
An evening of spooky fun, ghoulish jokes and chilling tunes. It’s time to dust off the broomstick and dig out the wizards cloak as we have some fun for Halloween.
Christmas – December
Join us for an evening of Christmas merriment and festivities, with activities and musical entertainment suitable for all the family.
