A Fair Price for Exceptional Care
A home-from-home approach to care is fundamental at Oldfield Care Homes as is our commitment to fair value.
We have a personal approach to care, not a “corporate” one, and the care that we offer comes from the heart. That’s why it is exceptional care.
We also recognise that many families make real sacrifices to ensure their loved ones are well cared for, and we regard it as our responsibility to only charge a reasonable price so families and residents know they are getting good value.
We can give helpful advice regarding funding arrangements to pay for your care.
A Home-From-Home Or A “Hotel”?
The last thing most older people want to do is move out of their own home, but when the time finally comes where do they want to move to: a “hotel” - or a home-from-home?
There are some very impressive residential care homes that look like, and are run like hotels – and some people love the idea of spending the rest of their lives “on holiday”, but most people want to live in a comfortable, enjoyable home-from-home, not in a “hotel”.
Most of us want somewhere they feel comfortable, and, in the end, we think you have to decide whether your loved one would rather live in a hotel-type environment (and pay accordingly), or would be better off living somewhere that felt like home, and where they were looked after as if by a member of the family rather than by “staff”.
Perhaps it comes down to this: exceptional service or exceptional care?

The “Fair Prices For Care Homes” Campaign
Oldfield Care Homes founder Simon Badland feels passionately about care homes giving fair value.
“Most people work hard all their lives, and they deserve to pay no more than a fair price when it comes to a care home at the end of their life” he says. “We employ local people with a caring attitude and real expertise, so we deliver good value and exceptional care.
“Our chefs use local, in-season produce which is healthy, tasty – and good value. Almost all our rooms are en-suite, and we encourage residents to bring their own furniture and mementoes. They often find there are residents they’ve known for years, and it helps to create a big happy family” he says proudly.
“But there’s no reason to charge over-the-top for such a home-from-home experience. It gets to me when I see the prices some homes charge. Of course, some are like hotels and you can see why they need to charge high prices – fair enough – but is that what most people want?” he asks. “In the end” he suggests “it comes down to whether families want exceptional service for their loved one – or exceptional care”.
“We now have seven care homes, and that’s enough to prove that you can combine good value with exceptional care. It’s what we do – and what we promise that we will always do”.
